Overview of this campaign

Data is our super fuel. We take it ot automate distribution (a daily newsletter for example), to personalize our digital products (like our week-widget inspired by Spotify) and to make the newsroom more efficient by feeding some little bots telling our editors which content of the printed newspaper they shoud otpimize for the digital channels. Thus, we maximize loyalty and engagement and our editors are much more productive.

Our objetive is growth. We want to grow our digital subscriber base. We really believe in the subscriber business as the future for local publishers. Badische Zeitung is a founding member of DRIVE (digital revenue initiative), a data alliance of eight German newspapers with the dpa and the consultants of Schickler.


Results for this campaign

Already before corona hit the planet te growth rate of our digital subscriber base continuously grew. As a medium-sized regional newspaper not being part of a big newspaper chain, the magic of data helps us to stay competetive and thrive. In 2020, our monthly growth-rate concerning our web-subscriptions-customer-base was 50-60% on year-to-year-view. We serve more than 32.000 digital subscribers in january 2021.
