Amsterdam’s funky, design hotel Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy is located just an 8-minute walk from De Persgroep, venue for the 2018 European News Media Conference.
And it is offering a special accommodation discount for INMA delegates: 10% of the B.A.R. (=Best Available Rate) at the time of booking. In other words: the earlier you book, the better rate you’ll get.
To book a room at Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy, book through the hotel’s website using the discount code INMA (valid for dates from 25-30 September).
If you prefer a more conservative hotel, we recommend the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel, right by Amsterdam Central Station; also offering 10% off the best available rate for INMA conference delegates, book here.
Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy is the first 1-to-5 star design hotel in the world. Every room is different. The architecture and large chunks of the interior of Lloyd Hotel bear witness to the fact that this is a building soaked in history. Climbing one of the staircases, this history unfolds in film, pictures, and letters. Read more about this fascinating hotel here. It embodies Amsterdam's hip-, funky- and cool-ness. We think you'll like it.
How To Get There
It is highly recommended to take the train from Amsterdam International Airport to Amsterdam Central Station (due to heavy traffic).
Then from Amsterdam Central Station, take Tram "26 IJburg" (every 6 minutes) just outside the station building, platforn A3. Get off at stop 3 (8 minutes ride. Stop called "Rietlandpark"). Then it's just a 650m walk to De Persgroep Nederland.
If you're staying at the Hilton DoubleTree, it's a walk less than 5 minutes away from Amsterdam Central Station.
If you're staying at the Lloyd Hotel, take the above mentioned Tram 26 "Ijburg" and get off at stop called "Rietlandpark".
Parking: public parking is available outside the conference venue and costs 35EUR/day.
All sessions and presentations will be held in English.
Low Lands Innovative Media Study Tour: Amsterdam
3 Ideas Days: 2 of the 3 Ideas Days on Wednesday 26 September will take place at publishing company De Persgroep Nederland.
European News Media Conference: The 2018 European News Media Conference will take place at one of the Netherlands’ leading media companies: De Persgroep Nederland. Address: Jacob Bontiusplaats 9, 1018LL, Amsterdam
For any parts of Media Innovation Week, participants should fly to Amsterdam International Airport (aka Schiphol).
Amsterdam International Airport to the City Centre
Travelling to the city centre of Amsterdam is inexpensive and very easy via train. There is a train that runs every 10 minutes from Platforms 1 and 2 in the airport main 'Arrival Plaza'. Buy a ticket online to avoid the queues. One ticket costs €9,50.
Then walk or take Tram 26 ijburg (every 6 minutes. Details here) from Amsterdam Central Station to the Lloyd Hotel: just 3 stops away.
If you prefer to be directly transferred from the Amsterdam airport to your hotel, a taxi is an alternative option: price approximately €55. Keep in mind the Amsterdam Airport is very crowded and finding a taxi can be difficult. Busy traffic is the norm rather than exception in and around Amsterdam.
From Lloyd Hotel to Conference Venue
If you booked your hotel room at Lloyd Hotel (we recommend it!), it’s just a pleasant walk 850meter (~10-minutes) to De Persgroep; where the 2018 European News Media Conference, takes place. Map here.
There is also ample parking space available for those driving to De Persgroep. Address: Jacob Bontiusplaats 9, 1018 LL Amsterdam.
