Leadership: The Transformation of News Summit is the product of so many volunteers, partners, and leaders. The two seminars are organized separately.

  • Extracting New Value from Content: The “Extracting New Value from Content” seminar is put together by the INMA North America Division Board as part of an ongoing initiative to highlight the evolving value propositions of content — especially to consumers. The seminar is chaired by Sandy MacLeod of the Toronto Star.

  • Tablets, a Second Life for Newspapers: The “Tablets, a Second Life for Newspapers” is organized by the INMA Europe Division Board and Innovation Media Consulting Group as a follow-up to the successful Oxford University Tablet Summit in May 2010, and is done under the auspices of the Harvard Nieman Foundation for Journalism. INMA's Inge Van Gaal and Innovation's Juan Antonio Giner have taken the lead with this seminar.

Transportation: Boston is served by a robust transportation system that provides many options.

  • Air: Logan International Airport handles domestic and international flights. The Charles Hotel is 8 miles (13 kilometers) from Logan International Airport.

  • Taxi: The 20-minute taxi ride between Logan International Airport and The Charles Hotel typically costs about US$35.

  • Subway: For those wishing to take public transportation from the airport, take the Silver Line bus system to South Station and connect to the Alewife Red Line train to Harvard Square. The Charles Hotel is a two-minute walk southwest of the subway stop (approximate cost from the airport US$3.50).

  • Trains: All trains and buses into Boston converge on South Station. From there, follow the subway instructions above to The Charles Hotel.

  • Parking: Parking at The Charles Hotel costs US$34 per day.

Boston and Cambridge: Boston is the capital and largest city in Massachusetts, the unofficial “capital of New England,” and one of the oldest cities in the United States with a metropolitan area population of 4.5 million. Cambridge is adjacent to Boston across the Charles River and is known as the home to Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Weather: Plan for cold weather, usually between between 28°F (-2°C) and 43°F (6°C).

Attire: The dress for the INMA Transformation of News Summit is business casual.
