Professional background

Marcelo Benez has built his career in marketing, communication and commercial areas. He has wide experience in working with major companies in Brazil, such as Pão de Açúcar Group (Retailer), Talent Communication (Advertising Agency) and Folha Group (News Media Company). His activities are mainly focused on sales and advertising sales administration. He is currently in charge of Folha’s Group Commercial Department, which includes Folha de S.Paulo newspaper, Folha’s Magazines, Agora São Paulo newspaper, news site and The New York Times International Weekly Section, special for Folha de S.Paulo. His duties also include working with special commercial projects planning and implementation, assisting the most influential advertising agencies and customers in the following segments: Retail, Banks and Credit Cards, Fashion industry, Consumer goods, Telecommunications, I.T., Legal and Governmental Advertising, Food and Beverage segment, Tourism and Commercial aviation. In addition, Marcelo is an Ethic Counselor of CONAR (Brazilian Advertising Self-ruled Council) and an Ethic Counselor of CENP (Brazilian Advertising Consulting Entity). He is also a member of the Marketing Committee of the National Newspaper Association in Brazil and Vice President of INMA (International News Media Marketing Association) in Latin America – Brazil. Marcelo Benez holds a Bachelors degree in Advertising from FAAP College, Sao Paulo – Brazil and Law from Mackenzie University, Sao Paulo – Brazil. He has a Post-Graduation in Marketing from ESPM College (Marketing and Advertising Superior School), Sao Paulo – Brazil.

Considering that we are living in a competitive multimedia world, one of the major challenges is to keep being important in people's daily lives. In addition, newspapers will need to find the way to constantly appeal new readers from young generations, in order to recycle the audience.
