More than 300 delegates from 100 companies gathered September 29 to October 1 in Krakow, Poland, to explore the news industry’s transition to multi-media at the INMA/OPA Europe Conference. Above all, newsmedia companies must know their readers and advertisers and not only respond to their needs, but use research and market analysis to anticipate future needs. Presenters Google and Microsoft noted opportunities for collaboration between online search and news in telling the stories readers want. Several companies detailed their successes in gaining and keeping audiences in both the paper and digital worlds. The three-day event included keynotes, panel discussions and seminars organised around the theme of “transformation, inspiration, innovation.”
