For the first time in its 96-year history, the INMA World Congress of News Media in Berlin sold out today.

Breaking a conference registration record, INMA Berlin will be held May 4-8 in the shadow of the Brandenburg Gate: Axica Congress & Convention Center, the city’s premium conference venue located at Pariser Platz.

The news media industry’s premier conference on business transformation and innovation, INMA World Congress of News Media week will feature a media conference, six seminars, three study tours, and the Global Media Awards unveiling.

With a nod to Berlin, the conference will be held under the theme of “From Walls to Bridges News Media Reimagined.” Event programming will be a mix of global strategy and best practices and shining an international spotlight on the innovative German news industry.

The sold-out, five-day Berlin conference will be held at the Axica Congress & Convention Center near the Brandenburg Gate.

The sellout 39 days before the Berlin World Congress is set to begin underscores strong global demand for collaboration, innovation, and leadership in the news media industry, said Earl J. Wilkinson, executive director and CEO of INMA. It also demonstrates strong interest in the German news industry by international peers.

“This year’s sellout reflects the urgency across the news media industry to rethink business models, accelerate digital transformation, and share what is working,” Wilkinson said. “The INMA Berlin Congress programme is designed around the real challenges leaders face today — AI, subscriptions, advertising, product & tech, and the future of journalism. And the response has been extraordinary.”

Because of Axica venue capacity limits, INMA has closed general registration and will now move to a wait list in the event of late cancellations.

“We regret that we cannot accommodate more delegates this year,” Wilkinson said. “The level of interest demonstrates how important it is for the global news media community to come together in person at this moment of transformation.”

INMA began notifying its 26,000+ members worldwide earlier today, emphasising topical and regional in-person conferences later this year:

Dates and venues for the 2027 World Congress in New York will be announced soon, as will the March Media Subscriptions Summit in Oslo.
