INMA News Blog | 11 April 2021
The 91st Annual INMA World Congress of News Media will be held May 6-27 and will explore the emerging growth path for journalism-rich news brands, the changed revenue environment, differentiating in a toxic information market, and locking in subscribers for financial sustainability.
Conducted across 20+ hours of programming and featuring the global news industry’s premium case studies and keynotes, the INMA World Congress will focus on seven areas:
- The big trends in news media.
- Deploying smart data to extract opportunities.
- Optimising the advertising comeback.
- Media inspirations from around the world.
- Creating the next subscriptions growth path.
- Why a product mindset has become the new requirement.
- Creating value at the “new” media company.

Most of these seven areas will include, for the first time, an executive briefing by INMA specialists in leadership, data, advertising, subscriptions, and product.
The World Congress Web site is now live at www.inma.org/worldcongress, featuring the first moderators and speakers.
The INMA World Congress is annually considered the news industry’s best executive-level briefing on trends and best practices. Thousands of World Congress alumni come away with insights, ideas, benchmarks, and inspiration across the news media business.
Held virtually for the second year, the INMA World Congress will explore how transformation agenda accelerated, value propositions changed, subscriptions soared, and data and product emerged as resource winners of the news business.
Yet what comes next for a news media business that has more optimism leaving COVID-19 than it had entering the pandemic? Cutting across the INMA network of nearly 17,000 members, what core principles emerged that can be shared with fellow news brands?
The INMA World Congress includes key supporters such as the Facebook Journalism Project, Google News Initiative, Piano, Protecmedia, Ring Publishing, and Stibo DX.
