INMA publishes “INMA Knows Australia and Big Tech” curation category
INMA News Blog | 23 February 2021
INMA has been watching the situation with Big Tech and Australia’s government and news media companies since mid-2019. Last week, things got serious really fast, specifically with Facebook and Google.
Robert Whitehead, a director at McPherson Media Group, has been reporting on the ground from Sydney for INMA, while INMA editor L. Carol Christopher has kept an eye on the worldwide impact. In its second just-in-time “INMA Knows” distillation (the first was on COVID-19), INMA today released “INMA Knows Australia and Big Tech,” which surfaces their reporting.
“This is an historic moment. A world first,” Australian Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said last week after two Australian media companies reached content payment agreements with Google. And much has happened since then.
