MittMedia has two robot journalists on its staff.

One writes 45 weather stories every morning at 5:30 a.m. for the Web sites of MittMedia’s various titles. The second robot communicates (with actual words) with reporters and editors about how mobile page views are doing.

Robin Govik, editorial director for business development at MittMedia, told INMA in a video interview at the October 2015 INMA European News Media Conference in Budapest, Hungary, that he is often asked whether people will lose their jobs because of the robots. Likely, yes, he says, but not because of the robots.

“That is how this media industry is doing right now but it’s not thanks to the robot. The robot is perhaps saving our jobs by creating good content for our readers.”
