Digital storytelling is much different today than it was five years ago, Tone Tveøy Strøm-Gundersen, managing news editor at Aftenposten, said at INMA Media Subscriptions Week in February.
“We work much more now with digital storytelling in order to not just make the story but to own the story,” Strøm-Gundersen said. “And one way to do that is through great digital storytelling, which means we train the reporters to use graphics, use visuals, use numbers, maps — all the different kinds of digital techniques that you can use in storytelling.”
Before, an article had lots of words and maybe one page. Now, Strøm-Gundersen said, the digital department “is the heart of the newsroom at Aftenposten.”
