In September, INMA awarded 30 young professionals around the world with its fifth “30 Under 30” award as part of its Young Professionals Initiative. This is the 22nd in a series of 30 features about the impressive rising media stars who are shaping our industry.
Throughout his career, Mohammad Abdullah Al Noman has consistently demonstrated leadership, innovation, and strategic thinking, earning a reputation as an industry leader. Launching his career as an intern-content writer at Torun Digital in 2020, he quickly mastered the skills for content creation and digital media.
At the same time, he founded the Bangladesh news magazine Gaznobay, where he continues to serve as editor-in-chief and chief executive officer.
“I have trained over 700 people and featured around 100 individuals in our print version magazine and online,” Mohammad said, adding that Gaznobay has published 18 editions within two years and partnered at more than 40 events. He also has organised 15 online live programmes and plans to expand the publication into Europe, America, India, and the Middle East over the next five years.
“One of my key strengths lies in harnessing emerging technologies to drive audience engagement and growth,” Mohammad said. “At Gaznobay, I spearheaded the adoption of digital platforms, significantly increasing the company’s online presence and viewership.”
This increased the company’s online presence and viewership, whilst his commitment to journalistic integrity and high-quality content has earned the trust and respect of both his peers and audiences.
Looking to the future, Mohammad aims to lean further into a more digital, diverse, and data-driven future. His goals include implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance content personalisation and audience engagement to boost viewership and revenue.
He also intends to champion diversity and inclusion within the newsroom, ensuring that coverage reflects a wide range of perspectives and experiences: “A diverse team can better represent and address the concerns of different communities, fostering trust and relevance in the content produced.”
In addition to his strategic vision, Mohammad is committed to combating misinformation through rigorous fact-checking and media literacy initiatives.
“The media industry needs to improve transparency and combat misinformation,” he said. “With the rapid spread of news through digital platforms, it is crucial to ensure that accurate and reliable information reaches audiences. Strengthening fact-checking processes and promoting media literacy among the public can help achieve this.”
And, he said, he looks forward to being part of that fight against misinformation whilst boosting media literacy: “Ultimately, my vision is to contribute to a more informed, connected, and equitable society by advancing the standards and practices of the news media industry.”
