In September 2024, INMA awarded 30 young professionals around the world with its fifth “30 Under 30” award as part of its Young Professionals Initiative. This is the fifth in a series of 30 features about the impressive rising media stars who are shaping our industry.
Since joining the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) in 2019, Caleb Davidson has gone from a contractor running outside sales programmes to a pivotal role as marketing manager on the growth marketing team, where he manages acquisition efforts.
Caleb’s expertise in e-mail marketing has been a cornerstone of his success. He set ambitious goals and exceeded expectations, securing 3,141 new subscriptions through e-mail campaigns — 12% above the target.
He consistently leverages data-driven decisions to drive cost-efficient subscription sales, and his collaborative efforts were instrumental in the launch of the award-winning documentary, “The South’s Got Something to Say.” Caleb effectively managed campaigns for both the growth and brand teams, resulting in engagement from both subscribers and prospects.
One of Caleb’s most remarkable achievements is his sports partnerships initiative: a collaboration with the Atlanta Falcons that included a ticket giveaway campaign resulted in acquiring 18,774 new e-mail addresses, with 11,153 individuals opting in for the Sports Daily newsletter. Additionally, he launched a new sports partnership with the Atlanta Dream, celebrating Black culture in Atlanta and expanding AJC’s audience.
Showing leadership abilities beyond marketing campaigns, Caleb also played a crucial role in implementing a new project management system at AJC, significantly enhancing efficiency and productivity. He has proven his ability to navigate significant changes while maintaining a collaborative and inclusive environment, and his strategic mindset helps drive growth and achieve outstanding results.
As he looks toward the future, Caleb has demonstrated dedication to personal and professional growth, such as his participation in the Cox Mentor programme. This commitment aligns perfectly with AJC’s values of continuous improvement and development.
Through his ongoing efforts, Caleb has demonstrated a strong commitment to inclusion, fostering trust and open communication across the organisation. His contributions and strategic recommendations have consistently improved AJC’s ability to drive cost-efficient subscription sales through data-driven decisions and increased sales volumes, making him a valuable player on the team.
