Sonali Verma
is an independent consultant with a robust editorial and data background who today works on digital transformation projects for news media companies.
Over the past five years, Sonali served in business and product capacities for Sophi, which is owned by Canada's newspaper of record, The Globe and Mail. Prior to that, she spent a decade with The Globe and Mail as an editor and in audience engagement capacities. During her tenure, she led a newsroom mind shift in getting journalists to understand how data could make them more effective in attracting and retaining subscribers.
Her early career was spent as reporter, editor, and senior producer at Bloomberg, CNBC, and Reuters. She was based in Delhi, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Manila.
Sonali�s background in journalism, audience development, and at Sophi uniquely prepared her for this one-year INMA Generative AI Initiative. For example, she helped develop Sophi at The Globe and Mail. Sophi is an automation and predictive paywall decisioning product for enterprise-level publishers that today�s is used by publishers on five continents.
