Must be employed by a news media organisation in Africa

Must be below age 35

Must be in the news industry less than 5 years

Must be physically based full-time in Africa

Must be below senior management level

Must demonstrate a need for on-the-job training and education

Must aspire to learn more about the business of news

Must aim to be in news media for the long-term and, potentially, a future leader

Must commit to participating in all four modules

Beyond the core qualifications, we are looking for professionals who have not yet gotten sufficient on-the-job training or an adequate college education – a huge, under-served part of the news industry.

We want a class of up to 75 professionals from the broadest array of news media companies.

We want the curious, not the passive. We want livestream participants, not recording lurkers.

This is not a programme about journalism – but the business of journalism. We want people who understand this distinction.
