Overview of this campaign
A dedicated and focused taskforce set up in late 2015 to ensure The Straits Times (ST) keeps abreast of tech innovation and digital trends.
The ST Innovation Lab works towards ideas and solutions that are:
- Simple – chances of success higher with simple ideas rather than chasing after “big bang” breakthroughs
- Rapid – Do several iterations of 2-3 weeks each
- Experiment – Conduct several proofs-of-concept to quickly ascertain what works and what doesn’t
Results for this campaign
In Jan 2016, it hosted the Front End TL;DR meetup - a gathering for the active community of front-end developers in Singapore. The informal event drew developers, designers and project managers from across various industries, and it provided ample learning and networking opportunities for both external participants and the ST team.
The ST Innovation Lab will continue to host such events, champion initiatives that lead to innovations in the newsroom and its products, and keep ST abreast of rapidly changing media trends.
