Attendees and speakers to the sold-out 85th-annual INMA World Congress are en route. INMA staff is on the scene. It’s go time, New York.
Actually, World Congress doesn’t officially start until Sunday. But some delegates got an early start Thursday and Friday by attending the pre-conference Media Disruption Study Tour of Manhattan and Brooklyn’s digital media houses: Atavist, Bloomberg, Business Insider, Complex Media, Skift, Gothamist, Longform, New York Times R&D, Roads & Kingdoms, Upworthy, and Vice.
The official World Congress begins Sunday with 13 “Brainsnacks,” 7-minute presentations of success stories from around the world — from News Corps Australia to the South China Morning Post to HT Media.
Monday and Tuesday, delegates will dig into the subject of digital reinvention with speakers like Ross Dawson (who famously predicted the end of the newspaper, down to the year), George Barrios (chief strategy and financial officer of World Wrestling Entertainment), as well as executives from The New York Times, Condé Nast, The Wall Street Journal, MittMedia, Aftenposten, Fairfax Media, Dow Jones, and Gannett.
And, of course, then there is the awards gala at the Edison Ballroom on Broadway.
If you’re on the road to all the festivities, safe travels and enjoy. If you can’t make it this year, follow along on Twitter (@INMAorg, #INMAWC15), Instagram, Facebook, and via this World Congress Blog. Let’s do this!
